The Tribes of Palos Verdes
När tonåriga Medina flyttar med sin familj till idylliska Palos Verdes i Kalifornien tycks framtiden ljus. Men gamla bekymmer kommer snart ikapp familjen, då föräldrarnas äktenskap börjar knaka i fogarna och mamma Sandys psykiska hälsa blir allt sämre. Dessutom börjar Medinas tvillingbror ta droger. Mitt i allt måste Medina förlita sig på sin inre styrka för att hålla ihop familjen medan hon hittar glädjen i en ny passion: att surfa.
